Penny Black Saturday #135!

Good morning all! I hope you've had a great week! I thought this week was dragging but now it's the weekend again, it feels like it's flown by! It's Saturday which means time again for another Penny Black Saturday Challenge! This week we'd like to see you January Sales bargains! Or if, like me, you didn't snab any, just show us your most recent stash! This week we are sponsored by the fabulous Fantastic Ribbons with 4 beautiful rolls of ribbons up for grabs!
Here's my card - I saw tutorial by Paula Pascual in Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine and had to try it! I've been looking at everyone's Distress Ink water colouring tutorials and fancied a go, then when I saw the backgrounds that could be made, I decided to get myself a few! (And they were on eBay so actually quite a bargain after all!) She used a beautiful Hero Arts stamp (which I bought too!) so I adapted it to use for this challenge. I stamped and embossed in white then swirled around with the blending tool and a few inks (colours below), and added a few glitter highlights. I thought it only fair to use one of Paula's sentiment stamps! The shape it's stamped onto is also a newbie, it's a Kars punch with 4 different label shapes. The shapes are all a bit smaller than I thought but I love this one anyway! I made 2 copies of this image in case one went wrong which meant there were a few leftover bits so I made another card, I'll save that for another day. I have to say, I'm pretty chuffed! Although don't look too closely - you may see some inky finger splodges!
This card is also for this weeks Spoonful of Sugar which is Blue & Green and Top Tip Tuesday which is to use a Sentiment.
Cripes, I've rambled a bit - thanks for looking!

Fantastic Beth - as I said on our team blog I really love this and feel quite inspired to have a go (though i would have to by my bits'n'bobs first lol!!). This background technique really goes perfectly with this stamps, and I think there are quite a few PB's that would work similarly to give a great effect.
Have a geat weekend

This is fabulous Beth! You are so clever! I have no idea how you managed this :)

By the way, I got my Kindle for Christmas too and loads of people were clueless as to what it was! I adore it but am a bit miffed at Amazon as the prices of the kindle books have risen since before Christmas and in some cases are more expensive than the paperback version! How on earth can an electronic file cost more to produce than a hard copy?! x
